Things to do when you are sad

In your life everyday will be a new day; never two days of your life can be same. So do you ever thought today was not your lucky day and sometimes everything goes perfect, all good things happen. So this means sometimes your life is full of happiness and sometimes it becomes sorrowful.

The yin –yang theory depicts the same concepts of life. The ubiquitous yin-yang symbol holds its root in Taoism/Daoism, a Chinese religion and philosophy. The yin, the dark swirl, is associated with shadows, femininity, and the trough of a wave.  The yin, the dark swirl, is associated with shadows, femininity, and the trough of a wave; the yang, the light swirl, represents brightness, passion and growth. Yin and Yang represent how two even opposites can complement each other and should be considered as a whole. The resulting whole that is greater than the assembled parts.

So this is your life a sum of happiness and sorrow and together they make your spirit, a body which is ready to deal with all the problems. And that you have to deal on your own.

The question here pop's up” Are you feeling down?” or “felling lament?”. Don’t worry! Everyone feels sad and lonely from time to time. It is simply our natural reaction to feelings of helplessness, disadvantage, disappointment, grief and despair. The big problem is that sadness can really drag you down. At times, it can get so severe that it seems to drain you of all your love of life. But it doesn’t have to be this way! We have far greater influence over the way we feel that many of us are led to believe.

With the right strategies at hand, we can effectively overcome feelings of sadness.  Life simply confronts us with many difficult situations that can drag us down. No matter if we are unable to reach our goals, face a painful defeat, are ridiculed or struggle to get on with life, sadness is the most likely result. Over the course of time, however, this accumulation of sadness can take a severe toll on our lives. When we are no longer able to rid ourselves of feelings of sadness, each day becomes a painful battle. Life will seem like a pointless burden.

Unhappiness can be a bridge to happiness. ~ Japanese Proverbs.

Things you can do to overcome your sadness.

The following methods can help you to feel much better in a very short period of time. Stop thinking that “you are sad” instead of thinking, do something. Transform your sadness into joy and happiness. Here are some ways how you can overcome sadness.

MEDITATE

In medical terms meditation can be described as "The relaxation response helps decrease metabolism, lowers blood pressure, and improves heart rate, breathing, and brain waves”.  Mindfulness Meditation Can Help Relieve Anxiety And Depression. People are increasingly turning to mindfulness mediation to manage health issues, and meditation classes are being offered through schools and hospitals, the main reason behind these classes are happy and healthy being.

The benefits of meditation are amazing. Yes, it requires some time and effort until you learn to concentrate yourself properly. But the initial effort is well worth it. That’s especially true because the learning curve allows for quick progress. You will quickly see first results if you start practicing mindfulness or meditation.

Regrettably, in today’s fake world many people disregard meditation as spiritual nonsense. These people neglect entirely that meditation is simply a tool for training the mind. The way you use this tool is totally up to you.  Especially in these hectic modern times, meditation can prove to be of particular benefit.
While meditation is definitely not a quick fix, it’s long-term benefits can have a profound impact on your entire life. And thus meditation is the first key of your long term happiness.

SHARE YOUR FEELINGS

People express their emotions only in places where they feel safe, and where the expression of feelings is considered acceptable. Part of the problem for some people is that they have silenced their feelings for so long that they haven't developed resources for handling them when they do arise. Such unplanned, unexpected emotion can often prove overwhelming.

Some of the primary reasons of not sharing your feelings are Disapproval, Insult, and Dishonored. There are some sexual differences too which makes boundaries around people, for example: Men are especially likely to avoid exposing wounded feelings, because the society will judge them if they will cry in public or in front of other people. Because of some pathetic rules our society has made for us. In such cases, it becomes a matter of personal pride not to let others know they have “emotional, wimping and wailing man” within them. Women, on the other hand, are much more likely to worry that disclosing their emotional distress may lead them to be told that they're too “lamenting "--or, more commonly, "too sensitive" (which, literally, adds insult).
Many of us have fear that others will judge them for their weakness, so they are embarrassed to share their pain with others. But do you ever realize that in the population of 7.6 Billion you are not alone with your pain. Get out your sadness, explore the world, there are many people like you, discover them and share your feelings with them. Reaching out and talking to a kind and loving person is perhaps one of the quickest ways to get your worries off your chest.

ALLOW YOURSELF TO CRY

Did you know that crying has a scientific name? It’s called “lacrimation.” Most people haven’t heard it. Even so, every person on earth has shed tears at some time in his life. Crying is one experience that every human being has shared.
Crying really doesn’t hurt or damage a situation or people. Crying is a healthy expression of emotions, feelings of confusion and frustration can quite easily be expressed by crying. Some people cry when they’re sad or melancholy. Others cry when they’re frustrated or angry. Still, there are those who cry when they’re afraid. Whatever the reason, emotionally healthy people do feel the need to cry occasionally.
“If you don’t allow yourself to cry, you’ll never be able to smile.” – Magister Negi Magi

The act of crying has a calming effect on the body as one’s breathing often slows down. After shedding tears, you’re then free to go on with your day. It is true that if you will shed tears for first time, then for the second time you are ready to fight your pain on your own.
Recent research reported on the Science Daily website indicates that two-thirds of people studied reported feeling a boost in their moods after crying. The study also deduced that people who have diagnosed mental health conditions of anxiety or other mood disorders might not feel better after crying. In summary, healthy people who cry feel better when they’re finished crying.
Go ahead and let yourself cry if you feel like it – you’ll feel calmer afterward and be ready to confront your day with a renewed passion and motivation.

LISTEN CHEERFUL MUSIC

Music affects our emotions. When we listen to sad songs, we tend to feel a decline in mood. When we listen to happy songs, we feel happier. ... When asked about their listening habits, mixed results were found in accordance to the amount of time spent listening to music on a daily basis. Listening to music you enjoy decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol in your body, which counteracts the effects of chronic stress. This is an important finding since stress causes 60% of all our illnesses and disease. One study showed that if people actively participated in making music by playing various percussion instruments and singing, their immune system was boosted even more than if they passively listened.

If you love listening to music, you’re in good company. Charles Darwin once remarked, “If I had my life to live over again, I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week.”....Albert Einstein declared, “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician.” .....Jimi Hendrix called music his “religion.”

To stay calm and healthy during a stressful day, turn on the radio. Be sure to sing along and tap your feet to the beat to get the maximum healing benefit.

“Music is the language of memory.” – Jodi Picoult

Researchers discovered that music can help you learn and recall information better, but it depends on how much you like the music and whether or not you’re a musician. Subjects memorized Japanese characters while listening to music that either seemed positive or neutral to them. The results showed that participants who were musicians learned better with neutral music but tested better when pleasurable music was playing. Non-musicians, on the other hand, learned better with positive music but tested better with neutral music.
So next time you feel sad, just put your earphones and play your favorite playlist and sing like nobody is watching you.

“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” – Bob Marely

An Attitude of Gratitude

Appreciation, admiration these words means a lot, in fact the word gratitude has big meaning in itself. Gratitude strengthens our emotions. Gratitude reduces feelings of envy, makes our memories happier, lets us experience good feelings, and helps us bounce back from stress.

Gratitude reduces a multitude of toxic emotions, ranging from envy and resentment to frustration and regret. Robert A. Emmons, Ph.D., a leading gratitude researcher, has conducted multiple studies on the link between gratitude and well-being. His research confirms that gratitude effectively increases happiness and reduces depression.
So the best way to change your life is having an attitude of appreciation.

WRITE DOWN YOUR EMOTIONS

Writing your thoughts, your feelings in your dairy or somewhere can be very relaxing. It’s a good habit of writing a dairy entry, gathering up all your anger, sadness and joy in one place and realizing for that day all good things have happened with you. Writing makes your brain to feel comfortable and releases all the unwanted things going through your mind, makes the person little decompressed.
Psychologists who discovered the "Bridget Jones effect" said it worked whether people elaborated on their feelings in a diary, penned lines of poetry, or even jotted down song lyrics to express their negative emotion. And you don’t have to worry what you are writing, because whatever will you be writing in your dairy, will be your thoughts, your ideas, your sentiments.

SMILE ALWAYS

One of the best way to way to boost up your mind, your health, your mood, and even happiness in your life is a smile. Keeping a smile on your face not only keeps you mentally, but people who smile and laugh are often away from heart disease. Scientists have found that smiling on purpose can help people feel better. Just the simple act of putting a smile on your face can lead you to feel actual happiness, joy, or amusement. Smiling on purpose changes brain chemistry.
Sometimes while taking to a particular person on a chat or somewhere else, a smile comes to your automatically. So next time you feel down, keep a smile on your face and talk to the person who is close to your heart. To whom you smile like you always do.

Faking is an art, as it is said Fake it Till You make it. A smile helps you feel happier, and being happier helps you keep the smile going in a genuine way. Your fake smile is now real.

 Smile Like You Mean It

There's just one trick to making smiling work for you: You need to do it right. A true, genuine smile is called a Duchenne smile. It uses all the muscles in the face, including the "laugh lines" around your eyes. Engaging all these muscles is important, even in a fake smile. If you're smiling on purpose to help your mood, you want to smile until your cheeks lift and you feel your laugh lines crinkle. You can see how it feels by holding a pencil horizontally between your teeth as you smile.
